It was a rough Tuesday for the fandom as bandwidth issues prevented many from obtaining their SDCC goodies. Add to that a lackluster showing of our favorite toy at comic con and the series finale of Renegades made for a very very moody fanbase. The WOJM team tackles these issues and more in their own light hearted way - or tried to anyway. This week we are joined by modern era "documentarian" Gary Head as we interview this unique member of the community. He helps them review the SDCC weekend fallout and rewards a lucky listener in our latest contest - Joe Haikus! In our show segment, the team reviews a handful of answers to your SKO questions in preparation for next week's exclusive interview! Plus we try to call Hasbro Toy Shop Customer Service. Will we any have better luck? Don't miss this one! It may be almost 2 hours, but its a lot of content and not much fat.

Hi guys,
Well, what can I say that I haven’t said before, Awsome Show!!!!
Am sorry that I didn’t win the hiaku contest but maybe next time. I actually only tryed it because I wanted the AT two pack , the starscream skystriker I thought was nice but I actually passed on that becuase I wanted Zarana, so needless to say I would have settled on the AT part of the prize but oh well didn’t win so I guess thats neither hear nor there. But in reguards to the comments and to the question about seeing more Adventure team in the 3 3/4 format I’d think personally I would rather have this set as is making it unique. Its a nice homage to the 70’s 12 inch line and I don’t think it should be spoiled. Anyway for an Arctic Adventurer as an example a very simple custom could be made anyway. Take any version of Snowjop and make (or paint ) an AT logo on the coat. I only say this because there was an image done of the Artic Adventurer in I think the May issue of this years club mag.
I also have to say I has very sorry to see Renagades go. I was at first one of the ones that thought it was too much like The A-team but I warmed up to it by episode 6 and it just rocked from there enough for me to give it a second look. But I must admit I still might think that the cancellation might have been planned secretly from day one just by the ending It felt to me a little too neat but what do I know. I will be one of the ones to pick it up on video just because. Hopefully the easter egg version will be there.
I just wanna add this also when it comes to cancelled lines and figures, I also noticed that only some areas of canada actually got the Ashiko cycle and the Hiss tank scout. I never seen them except for various pictures online. So not all of us Canadians are luck at times when it comes to cancelled or hard to find lines. God I’m starting to sound like Chuck hey Justain give me a lurch grown lol.
Anyway great show and I can’t wait to hear next weeks.

One more thing, The casts are not long enough. I enjoy every minute.

Thanks, Ryan! I know the length is a tricky issue, I just feel that if you don’t have a dedicated few hours to listen, you can pause and come back to it.
I have a couple of favorite podcasts, and I’m always bummed when the show is over, so I have no issues with going a little over.
Greg is kind of a nazi, though. Don’t tell him I said so.

Thanks for answering my email.
as for length, I do have to admit, I was a bit surprised at the length of the podcasts, but since then I’ve gotten used to it.
And i would love some more Gary. Both of them.

—-To greg(whatsonjoemind) I know running the cast must be hard sometimes( and to keep Chuck inline during his transformers rants) so nazi is probably not the word that should have been used. They should refer to you as Serpentor.(lol suggested with all respect.)
Again I can’t wait for next week.

Thank you Gary and WOJM! I wasn’t expecting to win, I thought it was just an opportunity to take a shot at Duke. Tuned in on episode #12, it’s great to listen to while shooting my comic.
One suggestion/request for the show would be to include links in the description for each of the items you talk about. Easy way for us to check things out while listening to the show.

Love the podcast — just found out about it at episode 12 and caught up quickly. Length is not an issue. Go as long as you want, and please do keep up the excellent work.

Great cast! I really wish that the forum folks could realize that there is more to producing a toy the just “making a toy”. It is fantastic to hear people with common sense on the matter. In a perfect world we would have both o-ring and modern figures to collect, but I cannot see o-ring lasting past the fan base making custom figs. It makes me sad but it is inevitable. Thanks for a great beer drinking evening fellas!

To Troops of Doom, Congrats on winning the contest.Great poem.
To the guys at “Whats on Joe mind” Troops of doom has a good point about purhaps posting links to what your talking about or even in the summery in your archive page might be cool too.
I also have a suggestion to put forward. I would like to know more about how does one from the fandom perhaps make their own tribute/ contibution to the joe universe. I will use myself as an example here. I would like to create my own tribute page to joe as a fan showing my attempts at customizing figures and creating mini-comics and such to just have fun playing around in teh universe. Some of my ideas say might guest appear a known character just to either get the ball rolling or show up as a nod to the exsiting universe. I’ve seen things like this in the strips of say joecanuck where for example Sgt. Slaughter or Hawk have made appearences. What I would like to know , to make a long story here a little shorter is what are the ways to do this with say for instance not getting sued. I mean does one have to have a disclaimer on it saying this was a fandom idea and has no real afiliation to existing univers? Does Hasbro allow fans to contribute in such away as long as no money was involved? Perhaps some insight could be featured or talked about in future episodes. And of course I would love any advise you guys can give or any more background about your own sites and experiences are or were. Again as always can’t wait for next week.

This was my first listen to the podcast. I have to say, it will never last. You guys are way to educated in what you are talking about and way to rational when handling hot button topics. Your podcast would fare much better if you you had 2 hours of ranting about Hasbro, scalpers, and vaporware.
Seriously, nice job guys.

Thanks Scott…it’s wasn’t that bad now was it? You even got name dropped this episode.

Thanks very much for all of the listens and all of the feedback.
Ryan - When it comes to making a fansite or a tribute site, I would just put a disclaimer somewhere saying that Hasbro owns all the rights to G.I. Joe, you should be fine. We could always use more fansites out there.
Firefox - welcome to the crew. Keep listening, dammit.

SKO
I am really warming up to the idea of a new 0-ring toy line. I do have a few problems with the way they seem to be handling it.
First: The Facebook page which has absolutely no useful information at all. They could really benefit from that site if they could post some of there pics and maybe respond to postings.
Second: Who is actually working on this project? Is it 10 guys or 20? What background do they have? It would be great to have some insight on who is actively involved in the day to day project.
Third: Updates to the product line or even just finishing the basic website would be great. They started this back in 2009 and really haven’t shown much as far as updated toy line information.
Just a few thoughts on what I think would really bring people around to the idea of a new toy line by a new toy company.
I am looking forward to the actual interview.

I’m so glad I stay at yojoe.com. I don’t want to be on a forum with so many unreasonable people asking questions.
That said, it is nice to have some actual news on SK Omega. News is all I need. They can take whatever time they need to get SK Omega ready, but don’t give the impression that the concept will not happen.

I know I might get rapped on the knuckles or given the Lurch grown for this but what is SK Omega. I’m sure it must have been explained but could I just be brought up to speed a bit. Thanks.

@ Ryan - best thing to do is start ya here: http://generalsjoes.com/2010/04/30/introducing-sk-omega/

The guys at SK Omega are just in a really tough place. They are learning, on the fly, exactly what goes into producing a toy line. It’s much more than good ideas and a wad of cash, despite what many others might think.
I know they will insist that they didn’t put their name out there too early, but I still think they did…at least a little bit.
I will say this, though, it only goes to show how impressive it is when companies like NECA, and other independent firms produce and distribute the toys that they do. there are a ton of moving parts, and SK Omega is just learning to walk that line.
It would be nice to see more consistent updates, but really, if there’s nothing to show, why bother? Of course that begs the question why have the Facebook page in the first place, but I can’t really speak on that.

P.S. It is a sound effect from The Price is right, not Jeapordy.

Justin,
I think that’s the first time I’ve ever seen “NECA” and “Ton of Moving Parts” in the same paragraph.
