Episode 37: What’s on JOE Mind? WOJM: The “Lost” Episodes #1
Jan 20

When we started podcasting, our expectations were low.  We didn't expect to be around very long and we would have never guessed that we would have an interview with anyone associated with Joe media.  Well, it seemed appropriate on the episode that makes WOJM the longest running Joe-only podcast on the internet (possibly in the world or in all existence for that matter), we book our biggest interview to date.  You've heard him in our pre-show bumpers, but now we get him for an hour, its Jason Marsden the voice of Duke on the Hub's GI Joe Renegades cartoon.  We can't begin to tell you how cool it was to hear him in person talk about his experience with the latest Joe toon rendition!  He reveals quite a bit to us, but beyond that we just had a very enjoyable talk with a very cool dude...who happened to sound like Duke.  To lend us a hand on this landmark occasion for WOJM, we invited AtomicMartian.com's Jason (yes, two Mikes last week, two Jasons this week) to be part of the interview - BUT, not before being interviewed first about his team's very popular YouTube toy review videos.  Perhaps you may remember Chuck gushing about them on a weekly basis?  It was a hectic record night, but thanks to a refreshed Greg and the Jasons', it all turned out to be one of our personal favorite episodes.  A special thanks to Gary Head and all those who called in to congratulate us on this landmark episode.  Oh, and Herb from Rhode Island makes a return.  We put in a lot of hard work in these shows, so it means a lot to hear from you guys.  So who cares if it was a slow news week?!  We don't need no stinking news (it would be nice though).  We hope you have as much fun listening as we did recording - editing sucked because of Kevin Watts - just listen and you'll find out what I meant; he set a new bleeping record.

Great show this week. The interview with Jason Marsden was fantastic. I was really intrigued by his comments that there was a thought going around from the Hasbro execs about killing Duke. Makes you wonder if there is anything to that as it might pertain to Retaliation. Shame you guys didn’t ask him any questions about being on Step by Step. There were some really hot actresses on that show, that would have been my first “non-joe” question for him ; )

Great Episode, guys! Congrats on making it this long, I am really looking forward to the next 38 episodes! Jason Marsden was great as a guest, and hopfully you can bring on some guests that may have worked on the Sunbow Series back in the day!

As someone who swears as often as possible, the censoring of bad language doesn’t bother or offend me. Its actually refreshing that I can listen to your show in the car with my children present without being scolded by six year old daughter for your potty mouths.

Great show this week. The interview was terrific. Mr. Marsden sounded like he was actually enjoying himself, which helps a lot.

Regarding the bleeping, I’d appreciate it if it stayed in. Like Jogunwarrior, I often listen in the car when driving the kids around. I don’t have to worry too much about my 12-year old but my 4-year old is a little sponge, especially when it comes to vocabulary.

The idea “to cuss or not to cuss” is one we never really agreed on day 1. We started recording and as it turned out no one really let anything fly. Even with the addition of Justin we remained to keep clean. We never really brought it up for discussion as a team until we started the survey when 1 piece of feedback came to us saying we should not beep. I do not feel that our podcast is any less adult for not cussing. We are talking about GI Joe at a pretty high level, so it is nice to have a intelligent discussion with out the dropping of bombs. With that aside, we are subject to slips just like the next guy, so we will continue to bleep.

Now another piece of listener feedback that we’ve recently received said that we are starting to get a bit too much on the risque side. We’re work on tuning that down some. I don’t think we’ve gotten too carried away. I think we’ve pushed on the envelope some, but I don’t think we’ve crossed the line quite yet. There are still ways to share a chuckle with everyone while still having fun.

    -Gary
