This is a fast tracked episode because of the timely nature of needing to get our interview with Frank Patz from EternalCon and our old pal, Mark Cheng of Operation Red Retrieval fame. Frank and Mark give us the low down on the upcoming pop culture convention on Long Island, on Saturday June 15th. Believe it or not, our man Chuck will be stepping out of the Emanuele compound to venture out into the sunlight. Will he survive? We’ll find out soon. But hear the interview first and if you are in the NYC area, go to the show and watch Mark’s movie in glorious IMAX! We cut some editing corners to speed getting this show out, so we apologize in advance for a sub par edit. We’ll go back sometime and clean it up. In the second half, we met up with USA Today Lifestyle section writer Brian Truitt after he just broke the news on the GI Joe SDCC exclusives. After a long wait, we now know what they are and how much will they cost. What do we think of them? Yeah…you gotta listen, I’m not going to tell you here. Mike and Gary host this “almost a clip show” edition of WOJM. It’s one of our shortest regular editions in over 2 years! Here’s hoping you like the quality over quantity!

It’s an FSS EXTRAVAGANZA! We are joined by regular guest host Craig from The Fwooshcast and show friend and toy designer Eric Araña as we give our thumbs up or down ratings of each one of the figures we will see in FSS2. Justin and Gary review their ratings from FSS1 to see if they got anything that changed their minds from their initial ratings way back in 2011. Erik clues us in on what he’s been up to since he left the corporate toy world and what he has planned for the near future. Even though the news this go-around was light, we turn the mailbag upside down and answer the last bits of unanswered mail from the past year as well. This is one of those episodes that took forever to edit, but hopefully it was worth the wait. The show features not one, but two primetime interviews PLUS the returns of two of our most favorite guests. First off are the returns of Bill Ratner and Kevin Watts. Bill shares with us his thoughts of JoeCon as we have a very casual discussion with the man who will forever be the voice of our childhood Flint. He also learns about JoeCon in other countries - will we see him at Roll Out Roll Call 4? Next up is an interview we have been very eager to bring you, our interview with Lanny Lathem from the GIJCC. This is the first, of what we hope is a regular segment we have with the club, so be sure to leave us your feedback on this interview. Following the break we chat with Mr. Watts about his NJCC Salvo figure and share a little back and forth about the Joe internet culture’s feedback on it.

Sorry for the timing on this release. Our jobs have been very aggressive with our free time, so time that we used to spend on recording and editing was replaced by working and sleep this go around. The Doctor is IN!! No, not GI Joe Doc, or Dr. Sheldon Cooper, or even Dr. Johnny Fever…although almost as equally as crazy as the old WKRP rock and roller. This episode we are joined by Mr. Brian Cummings, or better known to Joe fans as the Sunbow voice of Dr. Mindbender. Join us as we talk to Brian about his career, what’s he’s doing now and we get to hear more about the upcoming Joe show in South Dakota, Mindbender’s Clinic in Rapid City on May 18th. Sounds like a fun time and you folks in the upper plains states should check-it-out. In the second half of the show, we are joined by our old buddy (and Chuck’s crush) Arune Singh from Marvel Comics where we spend the next 45 minutes talking about Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, C2E2 and the upcoming San Diego Comic Con (or Comic Con International as Arune says). Following our catch up with all things Marvel, we jump into a very abbreviated news segment concerning the box office returns of Retaliation, a look behind the scenes at Hasbro and Wave 5 of FSS 1…where Grunt, left us grunting…and Cover Girl left Gary grumbling. Speaking of Gary, hear his report from C2E2 and why he is now on triple protection, super lockdown. The things we do for our wives…

The co-hosts (and Chuck) return after their trip to JoeCon and some much needed rest (or in Chuck’s case, just another week at home). The team dives right into a full recap of JoeCon, including the surprise 2013 Concept Case, a full preview of FSS2.0, and their thoughts on the Hasbro presentation - what as shown and not show therein. Oh…and they briefly review their on-stage debut as WOJM went LIVE for their first ever, full blown, JoeCon panel. After intermission, it’s time to hit the mailbag. There is some Retaliation and some good ol’ ARAH discussion in there. However, there is a lot more JoeCon discussion is to follow, including a very good question on how to make JoeCon more appealing to the masses despite all of the post show negativity that typically accompanies convention season. Lastly, Mike crowns Justin the WOJM March Madness champ for 2013, but wait until who finishes second and gets a chance to come on the show…no, its not Dave Tree, although he did beat Gary.

Well, its our second annual pre-JoeCon “Live” episode. Who could we have as our guest on the heels of Jon Chu…well, how about TNI’s and the CFB’s Don Anderson. Feel a little let down now? Yeah, a little. Imagine how we felt…but Don brought his B-Game for us and we had a semi-good show. We answer more of your listener mail, talk about the surprising returns of Retaliation, rejoice at the green lighting of GI Joe 3, and do a ton of preview for JoeCon - INCLUDING the 10 day AccuJoe Forecast and items you should bring with you on your trip to Indianapolis. For those of you who are wondering, we also have James Kavanaugh’s list from last year, so take note!!

WOJM Special Edition #28: Our Review of Retaliation…AND JON CHU!!

Once again, first off, there are many many spoilers discussed in this episode. If you have not seen the movie and do not want to be spoiled, we recommend you DO NOT listen to this until you have seen the movie first!!

So we’ve all seen the movie. There is some parts WE LOVE. There are some parts that still need some work. Aaaand, yes, there is a part or two that made us cringe. With that said, we all enjoyed our time at the theater to watch the movie we waited so long for. What were our favorite parts? What parts did we not like? What would we do if we were in charge? We answer all of those. Plus…we get an unannounced but very welcome visit by Retalition’s Director - yes, Mr. Jon M. Chu himself joins us from his kitchen. He spends nearly an HOUR with us candidly answering every question we asked him. What an opportunity - thanks to Justin for setting that up and thanks for Jon joining us while going over opening night return numbers. We had a blast doing this one and we hope you enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime recording of WOJM!

Paramount UK afforded an opportunity for our man in the UK, Dave Tree, to attend the premiere and get a spot on the side of the carpet, we couldn’t pass it up. Throw in an exclusive interview with Director Jon M. Chu, and it is a DONE DEAL! WOJM is red carpet bound. At just over 3 hours, this epic clocks in as our second longest episode ever. It’s hard to believe we’ve never done a 3 hour podcast before, but you asked for it, therefore, you got it. MOAR WOJM! Think of it as a 3 course meal. Your appetizer is a marathon interview with Distinguished Author, Mark Bellomo. We cover things from the short comings of the hobby today and even dive into a little Monster High - not that we went in depth on that one, but is was brought up to prove a point. From Toys to Education, we cover it all with Mark. Before the main course, we cleanse your pallet with a trip into the mail bag and a review of the Vintage, 30th Pre-Prod and 30th Retail versions of the Skystriker from our man Shogi. In your main course, we deliver you hearty portions of community news covering FSS Shipment #1, the Shooter Kickstarter Project, Hot Toys, Retaliation and a roundtable discussion concerning the GIJCC Newsletter. If you are not full yet, Chuck awards the winner in the FOC logo contest and we are joined by WOJM FFL Champion Dan Uthman all episode long as he hangs out with us as a Special Guest. There is a little something here for everyone. So, for the next 3 hours (or next 3 lunch hours) enjoy as the news drought begins to end and the run to Retaliation and Indianapolis begins!

For those who aren’t into the Fantasy Football, our big Fantasy League wrap up with our Champion Dan runs from 02:36:30 to 02:49:23. Yes, its a lengthy segment, but Dan has certainly earned his time in the sun to speak his mind, so we let him…and our witty banter rip with this last football segment of the 2012-2013 football season. Does it mean we’re done talking Football….NO! We still need to pester Justin about his Patriots choking in big games, AND we have March Madness right around the corner. We’ll still talk sports, but we will be doing a little less of it for the upcoming future. Besides, there is Toy Fair, Retaliation, JoeCon, the FSS and new toys coming out, so we will have PLENTY to talk about! We can’t wait!!

It is an extended episode of WOJM as we review the year that was 2012 and preview the upcoming 12 months with high hopes of a big year. However, before we get to that we have a very special holiday treat to share with you, an interview with the Sunbow voice of Flint, Bill Ratner. Jumping into the news, the FSS has launched, The GIJCC annouces a second run of JoeCon 2012 sets, USA Today looks at IDW’s new Special Missions title, JoeCon will be in Indy, Amazon lowers 4-packs to crazy levels, Chuck thinks wrestling rumors concerning Retaliation is legit, and Hot Toys gets a Retaliation license! Whew…so much for slow news, eh?

For the year in review, we remember the first of the Retaliation toys to hit, the uncovering of the “Dollar General” Joes, Retaliation gets delayed, and WOJM experiences some major growth.

Imagine his surprise, after years of discouraging the club from placing the Con in his hometown (an event that would make any other Hoosier collector REALLY happy), that his efforts were in vain. Yes folks, JoeCon hits the lower midwest in the first time since…well, EVER. As much as Gary didn’t want the con in Indianapolis, he is proud of his state and city. Along with Mike, who is also a former resident of the Indianapolis metro area, they run down what to see, do and eat around the 2013 convention site, the brand spanking new JW Marriott! We also answer some commonly asked questions by convention n00bs and even do a little blind speculation of the figures which we think might be in the set. So, even if Gary doesn’t welcome you to Indianapolis, we still invite you to have a listen. 2013 has the potential to be something special!

Feels like the very first time, eh? Yes, this is a remixed and remastered version of our original pilot episode published WAY back in April of 2011. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t seem that long ago, but when you dive into its topic matter, it seems almost like another time and another place. What was the big topic of the day? SKYSTRIKERS…yeah, that’s right, Hasbro just announced the price point for the 30th Anniversary re-release of our favorite Jet. What else was hot in the news at the time? How about Hasbro taking a big financial hit in its quarterly reports? Feeling a loss at the Concept Case at JoeCon ‘12? Well, don’t forget about the concept presentation from JoeCon ‘11. Excited for Retaliation figures now? How about Pursuit of Cobra wave 6 then? Oh yeah, and how about 3 absolute strangers getting together to record the first, in what turned out to be, longest running Joe podcast to date. Why is this coming out now? You’ll find out in Special Edition #20…but you need to listen to this first. It’s isn’t that much better than the original, but its shorter and hopefully the pain will be less too. It’s election night in America…or it was when we recorded this episode in a time capsule. Boy, a lot has sure happened since we’ve last hear from the Terrific Treo and Chuck. Half the football season is over, we have a new baseball champion, basketball has started, hockey has…well, no one really seems to notice hockey missing, and we’ve had a Superstorm roll through the east coast. Because of this mega storm, we had quite ths diffcult task of keeping the show running and the audio is clean. We are pretty sure Arune got in trouble with the new wife because it sounded like he had KP Duty assigned to him in the second half of the show. *Sigh*…yeah, it was one of those shows, but its two plus hours for those of you who have been missing your WOJM “fix.” This episode we have not one but two interviews of notice. First we are joined by Fred Van Lente, the new writer for IDW’s GI Joe title. After hearing him, you’ll trust along with us that the franchise is in very capable hands. Following the interview with Fred, we went back in time to listen to a pre-recorded interview that we did with RJ from CobraStickers.com. We were joined by Kevin Watts on that interview, so who knows what new colorful lexicons he will add to our show FAQ. I do believe this time it includes a bag a phallus-es. Yeeeah, it was one of those interviews, but don’t miss it never the less!! After the break we go into the mailbag to check on Justin’s status of collecting votes for the Hasbro Concept Case we saw at JoeCon. From another letter, we get the low down on life in NYC with Chuck and Arune post SUPERSTORM. We also have a letter ask us our thoughts about a live-action Joe television show. In the news, the awaited for Kre-o debate is held. It might surprise you our thoughts on this new line that has a lot of the fandom excited. We rehash the new IDW teams and briefly mention the GI Joe Complete Collection #1 from friend of the program Mark Bellomo is now on Amazon. In movie news, there is a “new” trailer. The PR machine is getting in gear. Rounding out the news, the fandom came out strong and supported Marauder John’s Kickstarter campaign (as heard in Episode 68). Bravo everyone!

That’s right, after 90 plus combined episodes, WOJM finally gets to sit down and talk with the famous Marauder John of Marauder, Inc. We dive deep into his mysterious past to hear about how he started gun running and why. We also learn about the future of Marauder, Inc. with his ongoing Kickstarter Project and Campaign. We are excited to bring this interview to you, it has been a year in the making! In the second half of the program, we are joined by super substitute host AND Noted Author, James Kavanaugh. We also have Dave Draiper from Toy World Order join the ranks to add commentary to our mailbag and news. For the first time in a while, we had a packed news schedule. As shows go, this one truly shaped up to be a very interesting one. The first half is jam packed with three complete interview segments. First we talk to Wayne Losey and Tucker Johnson from Go, Go, Dynamo! Wayne and Tucker are two of the talents that brought us Sigma Six and now are using their expertice in the 8″ arena to start up another 8″ line, right now called, The Hero Project. The Hero Project consists of World Cultural Heroes as 8″ action figures with all of the pose and playability that your favorite Sigma Six figures had. Wayne and Tucker also answer questions concerning their time on the Sigma line and drop us a tiny tidbit about a certain Sigma dropship possibly having a 3.75″ seat tooled for it. Interesting, right? As Justin says, “Hot Damn!” After a whirlwind weekend in NOLA and a justified and well earned week-off rest (yes Chuck, those of us who WORK on the podcast need a rest), we’re back. As one con coverage comes to the end, another one is just getting started (and it ended since we recorded, but we digress…) as our focus briefly turns to the left coast and San Diego for SDCC. Our good buddy Arune Singh from Marvel Comics joins us and if his new theme/love song from Chuck doesn’t scare him off, we may be in store for some decent comic-level discussion from the biggest comic show of them all!! As a side note, be sure to give us feedback on Arune’s Theme…Justin, Mike and Gary want to be sure that it isn’t JUST THEM who are tone impaired. Anyway, have a listen to what Arune and Marvel have in store for SDCC and how it may relate to Joe fans. Some of the info Arune gave us was time sensitive and Gary was a little lazy this week, so thus the late posting. After Arune, we are joined by Mo Hunger from CardedHeroes.com. You may remember Mo from our Ladies Night Episode as she Stumped the Chuck in Trivia. Ah, good times, good times! What you might not remember from Mo is that she is an avid avid Joe comic fan. Whether it is Marvel, DDP or IDW, there are few we’d consider on her level of expertise! Mo joins us to fill us in from the IDW roundtable at JoeCon 2012. We also discuss why the roundtable was so sparely attended and why their table at JoeCon looked so lonely. Fear not, we’re here to give IDW love and support!! If you are a comic fan, the first hour of the show is for you. In hour number 2, we wrap up JoeCon by reviewing once more the Hasbro Concept Case and upcoming/proposed Hasbro Concept Fan Vote. We also review and wrap up the GIJCC’s news concerning Iceberg, FSS v2.0, and the security status of the club website and shopping cart. Both discussions on Hasbro and the GIJCC lead into our final thoughts and wrap up of JoeCon 2012 and when we might be seeing each other next in 2013. In the news…well, there wasn’t much news, but what news there was centered on the 2012 Canadian Joe Con in Toronto with the reveal of 3 figures and a vehicle with a familiar bling to it. FINALLY!? What took so long? Well, getting ready for JoeCon of course! Still, this is a good one to listen to while in the car or in the plane on your way to New Orleans. Louisiana native and Moderately Geeky Podcast co-host Jason Reddoch (aka southzen in the online community) joined the show to give us the low down on enjoying a good time in The Big Easy. From the best watering holes, where to get a good meal and the time to and from the airport, he covers just about everything a con goer needs to know. Jason stuck around afterwards to help us answer a ton of email, including several that were collecting mold at the bottom of Der Post Sack. Proof once again, WOJM will EVENTUALLY get to reading all of your mail, like a good show should. In the news, final letters were sent out for JoeCon, The SyFy GI Joe game goes beta, and we catch a peek at the W2 3-pack figures. Lastly, this show could not end without giving Chuck his birthday gift. We were all set to get him a male stripper, but then we found out that he was turning 14, so we had to come up with a Plan B. This week we invited Toy News International (TNI) staffer and Vice President of the Crappy Figure Brigade (CFB), Don Anderson to the show. And, if it sounded like Gary and Don knew each other for a long time, we”’they do. Gary and Don met WAY back at the San Francisco convention in 2003. We talk a little about the mega toy and entertainment community site TNI and how the fledgling 3.75″ collectors back in the day started the CFB. What is the CFB? How can you be a part of the CFB? When do they meet? What do they do? All those questions and many more are bandied about. From the mailbag we get a duo of comic questions, a proposal about a “Hasbro Universe” and two questions about JoeCon, including someone wanting to know, “What’s a parachute drop?” The cast and our guest set the records straight. In this episode we invite George and Travis from the Moderately Geeky podcast to join us for an important podcast announcement for JoeCon. 3/4ths of the MG hosts will be joining Mike, Justin and Gary in New Orleans to cooperatively cover the show from Thursday to Sunday. Aside from George we will be joined by MG co-host Jason and MG lead host Jay Hunger. Now you have heard George before, but maybe you are unaware of the capacity you have heard him here. However, his wife Karen was among the female guests we had in Special Edition #8. Jason’s wife was also part of this show and quite possibly had some of the best on-liners in our show’s history. Of course, you all should know Jay as the admin of CardedHeroes.com and and one of our substitute staffers that you hear from time to time. George, Jason and Jay are long time friends of ours going WAY back to ‘04, so getting to work with them to bring you con coverage is a real treat. We hope you enjoy what we can bring you while in NOLA. With that announcement out the way, we moved on to the mailbag where we answer some JoeCon questions concerning payment methods for registration/package pick up night and what is the difference between early and late registration. After a very early intermission, its into the news to talk about Justin’s scoop with Jon M. Chu concerning the Retaliation delay. From the club we report on what is/or is NOT available for JoeCon sets and figures. The latest on the “Dollar General,” Robert Atkins and The Rock round out the news. After, we choose to have a little fun and honor former Family Feud host, Richard Dawson, so we played The Family Feud: Stump Chuck edition. You got to listen to the hilarity ensue AND Chuck finally melts down and spouts off with some really bad put downs. However, Chuck makes no secret of his love of spunk. We talk about how cool the 12″ set is and Justin reports on the latest from the GI Joe: Special Ops game. Join WOJM co-hosts Chuck, Justin, Mike and Gary along with special guests Arune Singh from Marvel Comics and Brian Truitt from USA Today as we have a roundtable discussion with a number of community leaders about what this move means to the line and its future. So when Justin told us he would be missing this week’s show, we knew our interview would be a blast! Joining us this week is Neil Ross, or otherwise known as the Sunbow voice of Shipwreck! We talk to Neil for an hour about his many works - past and present. Right before halftime, Shogi Scott reviews many of the souviner JoeCon exclusives from 2010. In the second half, we start off with the mailbag and answer another JoeCon question, talk about Sideshow and our thoughts on the Operation Bear Trap set, and we get a text message from Chuck’s sister Barbra. In the news we talk about the final reveals of the 2012 3.75″ JoeCon set, once again we mention that the JoeCon Brochure is out, local Filipino GI Joe collector group, TS118 will be setting up displays and dioramas in the lobby of many movie theaters in the Philippines to help promote the hobby to new fans. Retaliation and “Dollar Store” figures are the topic of discussion in our wrap up segment. A few of the guys got their hands on early stuff, so hear what the guys thought of the new movie toys. This week we step back into the shadowy depths of the fandom to find the person responsible for the very cool, but very outlawed fan made video game, GI Joe: The Attack on Cobra Island. A crack team of WOJM investigative reporters, seasoned by watching 20/20 tracked down the lead designer of the game, known to us as Lord Skiff (aka Range Viper). Skiff, or Skiffer as Mike likes to call him, agreed to a clandestine interview. TO protect his privacy, Skiff asked that we disguise his voice. He’s an every day collector and fan just like you and me. Find out what he has to say about his game, the C&D issued by Hasbro’s lawyers and its foggy future. Rounding out the first half of the program, our buddy and admin of JoeBattlelines.com, Fred Meyer (aka Leo T. Dragon) gives an indepth review and historical lession of the 2002 JoeCon Crimson Strike Team set. Following halftime we were joined by Michael (aka Counterpunch) co-host of the Seibertron.com Twincast Podcast to discuss the atmosphere at BotCon and some of the differences and similarities of the opposing fandoms. After the build up of the last couple of weeks, we finally got a chance to slow down and return to our more casual roots of reporting on the fandom. We gave Justin the week off because his throat hurt from making howling sounds at the moon fending off his new log cabin homestead site from bears, wolves and catamounts in the New Hampshire outback. Speaking of outback, able bodied Austrailian and Fwooshcast co-host Craig joined us along with our FAVORITE 12″ collector, our buddy Ace Allgood. We catch up on the latest 12″ community happenings with Ace including the GIJCC 12″ MAN OF EVIL figure, what happened at JoeLanta, and how the 12″ community is reacting to the issues of the GIJCC. LIVE FROM St. Louis, Indianapolis, Kansas City, New York, Seattle, Dayton, Milwaukee AND Sydney, its the ONE YEAR What’s on JOE Mind Anniversary spectacular! This is the episode where we have YOU the fans call in and join us in the conversation! Also joining us on hotline calls were Operation Red Retrieval Director Mark Cheng, Canadian Joe Con promoter Mike Heddle, Marvel’s Director of Communication Arune Singh AND…HERB FROM RHODE ISLAND! Instead of jamming this event into one TINY podcast, we decided to loosen the belt a little and let the show expand into what is now OUR LONGEST EPISODE EVER! I mean, with so many folks calling in, how could we NOT talk to all of you, our fans who stuck with us over the last year. As a special thank you, we got the biggest and best voice in ALL of the Joe Sunbow world to sit down with us for a solid hour. We had the one, the only, Michael Bell (aka Duke) shoot the bull with us AND critique Chuck on his horrible Major Bludd impersonation/immitation (call it what you want, he does neither good).

The remainder of the “first half” of the show are ALL of your calls while two lucky callers walk away with some Robert Atkins art for just calling in. Pretty sweet! We also get the latest on the Canadian Joe Con, Greg makes a return and Craig teases us about seeing The Avengers.

During our halftime break, we debut our newest promo. Will Chuck finally get to talk about robots in it?

In the news we talk about the GIJCC reveals of Diana and Schrage (which we pronounced a number of ways, including one with a tweeeest). Pics from China reveal the long rumored Amazon 4-pack and we get an additional surprise of a Renegades 4-pack. The single pack “dollar store” figures appear in The Philippines and we discover variants and running changes to the line. SyFy.com launches GI Joe: Special Ops (sounds like a podcast) social media game. IDW employees shoot down concernes about the Joe titles being scaled back. On the movie front, we got a ton of new movie posters and poster variants…and FINALLY, the big news of the week are the plethoria of domestic and regional trailers which will hold us over until the big day in June.

In the final segment of the show, the remaining cast and special guest, Will Bell, give their thoughts over the last year. Sure, its a little gratuitous back patting, but for anyone who has a podcast, been on a podcast or attempted a podcast, this is NOT easy work. We thank you the listeners for all the comments, good and bad, who fueled this show to this day. It is not often anything last long enough to complete a year and we thank you for being part of the ride.

One year is just the beginning for WOJM. The show is often immitated but it will never be duplicated. There is so much more to talk about for 2012, the movie, the toys, the comics and all the cons - and we’ll be there with you, every week to talk about it. Hotel internet sucks! Now let’s roll!!

Dave had an awesome opportunity to catch a 10 minute screening of the upcoming GI Joe movie, Retaliation. Dave spends the next hour with us going into detail as to what he has seen, including surprises we have not heard as of yet and confirming rumors that have been long in circulation. Episode 51: What’s on JOE Mind?

As shows go, this was supposed to be a laid back one. Justin originally had the night off due to an IT project he had at work so we had an able bodied noted author ready to fill in for him. As it turned out, those IT plans went awre and a ton of news hit so it was quite helpful to have all hands on deck with this episode. In the first half of the show we are joined by our buddy Jay from CardedHeroes.com in a pre-recorded interview we had with artist Jeremy Dale. If the name is not familiar to you, as a Joe collector you should know his work from the 25th Anniversary comic 2-packs (ie Issue 21.5). Ironically, he’s is from the same city as one of our sponsors, Kokomo Toys, so how could we NOT have him on, right? From the mailbag we discover Mike went to college with one of our listeners and holds a strong opinion of one supermodel Christy Brinkley. What does Mike have to say? Also from the mailbag, we toss around substitution ideas for the o-ring and disclose what 3 Joes we will rescue from a fire. Naturally, Chuck doesn’t care about his Joes, so this should not surprise anyone. In the second half, we lead off with the news, and we FINALLY have good news from the club: Footloose is shipping! At the time of the recording, no one in the fandom got theirs, but SURE ENOUGH, a day after recording, they started showing up in GREAT BRITAIN of all places. Retaliation talk took up much of the remainder of the news with some spoiler free information leaking on some test screenings, Wave 1 Retaliation figures begin appearing literally right in Gary’s backyard, a mystery black uniformed Cobra Commander sells for INSANE money on eBay (which later turns out to be part of the long talked about on this show - Amazon 4-pack), and some new single-carded Joes destined for “dollar stores” have the community abuzz after the limited articulation issues of the movie line. Wrapping up the program, Gary reveals he has “acquired” the Retaliation Ghost Hawk 2 jet and Retaliation HISS Tank. What does he have to say about these two large vehicles.

IDW GI Joe and Snake Eyes artist Robert Atkins joins us again as we wrap up our coverage of Roll Out/Roll Call 3. We get his and Gary’s final report (and priceless stories) about their time in the UK for the convention. We also talk to Robert about his current projects AND get his impressions of the RobotCon artist alley decision passed down by Fun Pub and Hasbro (note: this was later cleared up during the week). After our talk with Robert, we dip into the mailbag for some more IDW discussion , Mike makes sure he gets the credit for whispering MAILBAG into the microphone and we all give our thoughts how Retaliation will hold up during Week 2 in its battle with a rebooted Spider Man franchise. In the second half, friend of the show Shogi reviews the Action Force ATC (or APC as we called it). If you want ANY Action Force vehicle, this is certainly one to go after! In the news we discuss the new pics of the carded figures shown on the GIJCC webpage and reviews of the Cobra Troopers and GI Joe Troopers that have popped up around the community. It’s finally here! It’s our Kevin Michael Richardson epic interview episode! But before we get to the man who did the Renegades voice of Roadblock, we had another Kevin join us, Kevin Watts. You may remember Kevin from previous episodes and he holds the show record for being bleeped 44 times in less than 70 seconds back in Episode 38! This time Kevin joins us to talk about his new custom HISS Tank project for this Spring’s New Jersey Collectors’ Convention. After talking with Kevin, we go into the mailbag to discuss a letter from a listener asking our take on the prices of some of the more popular Pursuit of Cobra figures that were released late into the line and why they are so expensive on the secondary markets. Just before the intermission, the team discusses in great detail the upcoming 3rd party product ban by Fun Publications at BotCon and how it may possibly affect us at JoeCon in June. After the break, stay with us for the next hour as the we air our interview with Kevin Michael Richardson. Following the interview, Chuck sits in for Mike and tries to do his best impression of Ted Baxter and tries to take us through the news, which include coverage of a new fan-made video game, updates about the fanfilm GI Joe: Initiate, first looks/reaction to Retaliation toy packaging, Sears availability and updated movie PR stills….whew, that was a ton to talk about. As a side note to the listener, we tried our best to censor as many of the foul laungage in this episode. Hopefully we caught everything. If we didn’t, we apologize in advance. Joining Mark was the actor who played Beach Head in Operation Red Retreval, Joe Barbagallo and GI Joe writing legend Larry Hama. What are they announcing? What could Mark and Larry possibly be up to? Well, listen and find out! In the news, the GIJCC launches a new secure website, Retaliation figures begin to appear on eBay via China and a new Joe/Robot trade is set for a September release. You listeners never fail to deliver and Chuck picked us out some questions to for us and Craig to mull over. In a very full second half of the program we cover the news of the week as Sideshow announces a new Snake Eyes figures, Renegades is coming out on DVD despite our unknowing banter in #45 and a composer is announced for Retaliation. After the news Gary and the guys go over the show survey results and bat about your dislikes and likes about the program. Before we wrapped this show up, we plug in a pre-recorded interview with Zack Hoffman, aka the Sunbow voice of Zartan that we’re sure you’ll enjoy. It’s spring time folks! As you know we have Craig on from The Fwooshcast all the time. He’s almost like our “5th Beatle”, albeit an Aussie. So when Craig asks if we can do a special bit for him and his show, you KNOW we’ll answer the call with a full production 20 minute mini episode.

We were asked: “What was your best, worst, and most surprising figures of 2011 and what are you looking most forward to toy-wise in 2012?”

WOW! Episode 45 is here! Better late than never, right? So yeah, its a week late, but we gave ya over 3 hours of RORC3 coverage, so that made up for something didn’t it? Apologies in advance. With travel and all, it made it difficult getting this out in a timely manner. We’ll make it up to you, trust us! In this episode we are joined by TWO very special guests. First, just joining us as a guest host and hanging out is US Marine, fan of the show and a REAL American Hero, Will Bell (no relation to Justin). Siting in the interview chair this week is Frederic Doss to talk to us about his upcoming fanfilm GI Joe: Initiate and his roles in BOTH the live action Joe and Transformer films. From the mailbag, Chuck is asked about the obscure South African wrestler Col. DeBeers joining the ranks of Cobra, Gary is asked why he hates Transformers so much, and was there ever a time anyone on the cast has ever lost interest in Joe and *gasp* STOPPED collecting. In the news, Hasbro responds to the latest issues with Fun Pub and the guys celebrate the conclusion of a long running show joke. Also covered in the news is the lack of new Joe broadcasting on the hub and a mystery Joe wave was found in the WalMart computers that has the look of being cancelled. After the break you will hear a pre-recorded interview with Sunbow writer Buzz Dixon as we talk to him about the toon and find out some stuff about the most dangerous man in the world AND what would have happened to Cobra Commander in season 3 if the series didn’t get lost to DIC. Continuing the latest of trend of remembering the roots of the 80’s Joe, we spend some quality time again with the good folks at Marvel. This week we are joined by the Executive Editorial Director of Marvel Digital Media Group & Marvel.com, Ryan Penagos (aka @Agent_M on Twitter). Now he’s a Joe fan, don’t get us wrong, but when you have nearly 1.4 million followers on Twitter and have the latest skinny on this summers Avengers blockbuster, well, you have all of our attention. We spend a good hour talking with Ryan about the upcoming Avengers motion picture, as well as get the latest on Disney XD’s Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes series. Filling in the gaps nicely is plenty of discussion on social networking, from Twitter to Facebook to Foursquare to GetGlue. We even get a story or two of what it is liked to be stalked by a follower (Justin, take notes). In the second half, Chuck gets some Transformer and Rasslin’ related email, we answer the 5 year old question: why do we call it 3.75″ when Joe is 4″, and we answer a blog comment about the articulation debate and our most favorite topic - distribution. In this special edition of WOJM, we enlist the services of 4 Joe collecting wives who are proof that it can be the perfect combination. Join Chuck, Mike and Gary as they ask a group of questions that are common to most collectors in the online fandom. How do you break the news that you are a Joe collector? How do you talk your significant other to accompany you or allow you to go to JoeCon? The ladies panel answer these questions and more in the first half of the show. We also answer a letter from a reader of Justin’s site asking what is the best Joe media to introduce your significant other to the hobby. We also get appearances from Chuck’s mom who reminds him to make sure he is wearing a new pair of clean undies since he is entertaining females for the evening and Consuela the Maid. In the second half we play another edition of Stump Chuck as Chuck takes on the Ladies in Joe Trivia. Listen as Joe passions, or lack there of erupt into a frustrated Chuck. WOJM Special Edition #7: An Interview with Larry Hama

This special edition really requires no explanation. We are joined by Marvel’s legendary GI Joe writer, Larry Hama. We find out a lot in this interview. What were the early difficulties in the UDW ARAH run? What’s Larry’s dream job? What does Larry mean when he calls GI Joe, Junior Woodchucks with guns? What happens when Hasbro takes over the filecard creation process? Why is writing a “toy book” the lowest of the low? Why was three years the original magic number for Joe and other books like it? How much of a risk was the USS Flagg playset? We also talk about his upcoming Roll Out/Roll Call 3 and SDCC appearances and we even talk a little about Kwinn to boot. Oh, and wait until you hear what he thinks (or doesn’t think) about Wraith and Helix. It is a surprising and eye opening talk with the guy who authored a good part of our childhoods. As a productions side note, please excuse the buzz in audio. Larry has a deep but very soft voice so we had to crank up the audio to hear him clearly. In the news, the obvious discussion was about Toy Fair, but they also covered the surprising television ratings of the network TV debut of The Rise of Cobra on the USA Network. How many Patriots jokes can we fit into one episode? We give it our best shot this time as we do our second ever crossover episode, this time with the Ryan and Chuck from the Star Joes Podcast! Now you all have met Chuck before, so this time we get to meet Ryan and learn a little bit more about him and the chemistry between he and Chuck that makes Star Joes a podcast that you should listen to - immediately after our show of course, shameless plug not withstanding. Much of the first half of the show is run by Ryan as we have a mini Star Joes episode including the WOJM guys into their regular show segments. In the second half we are joined by Craig from the Fwooshcast once more and we revert back to WOJM mode starting first with the mailbag where we get an update from our favorite active duty Marine, Will Bell. Will’s tour is now complete and he is home from Afghanistan, but that is not the full story. We also read and answer a letter from Vince who asks how do we feel about being the unofficial voice of the hobby and whether or not we use our respective show powers for what is good and right or use our voices as a bully pulpit to forward any agendas we might have. In the news, we talk about the new Movie 2 toys and the new Movie 2 trailers that we saw during the Super Bowl and we begin to look toward Toy Fair in New York City, home of the World Champion Giants. Oh Lordy Lordy, What’s on JOE Mind reached 40! Beach-Head Mike is promoted this week to be our new full time co-host. Also we are joined by our buddy Craig from The Fwooshcast. Chuck steps up in a big way to become our NEW showrunner. It was a light news week but right off the bat we had some breaking news as the GIJCC changed the dates of the 2012 JoeCon back one week and finally announced the hotel location in New Orleans. What was the fall out? Joining us in the virtual studios this week we did find a very eager and well spoken guest in Eric, aka Alexx from Alexx’s Shorts on JoeSightings and JoeBattleLines. He talks to the guys about his unique way of how he blends reviews and humor into his figure pictorials. From the mailbag Chuck answers a letter from his sister Barbara on why he won’t go to JoeCon. Chuck gets real for a moment and let’s it be known that he isn’t a shut-in like he made it out to be. We also answer an older letter from Brad who asks, among other topics, if collectors are ruining Joe for kids with our need to army build. In the second half we hear a pre-recorded interview with Matt Yang King, the voice of Tunnel Rat in GI Joe Renegades. He has some hilarious stories to share and we hope you enjoy them as much as we do. In addition to being promoted to co-host status, Mike is also our anchor on the news desk as we talk about the 80Tee’s up close look at the GI Joe Retaliation Motorcycle. The GIJCC sets Footloose “loose” on the showcase turntable for a full 360 view of what this year’s incentive figure will look like. Lastly, keep your eyes open during NBC’s broadcast of Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis for the next official trailer to hit. Paramount, USA Today and Hasbro needs to get this right. WE RECORD ON TUESDAYS GUYS! I mean, how can we comment on breaking news if we record a week later? If they knew that, we wouldn’t have had to record a special edition, but as it is, the occasion did warrant a “quick and dirty” session, so here it is. Justin, Mike and Gary gather in the high tech palatial WOJM virtual studios to go over the first 9 figures revealed for this summer’s upcoming sequel. We break ‘em down one by one. Which one’s did we like and which one’s do we feel will be duds? At the end we quickly preview the new 30 second trailer that will debut at some point during the Giants rout of the Patriots in Super Bowl 46 in beautiful Indianapolis. Call me Joe!

Episode 39: What’s on JOE Mind?

Where do I begin with this one? What could have gone wrong DID in this one. What started out to be a quiet standard episode turned into a 7 man battle royal. I guess people will say, “Well, it wasn’t THAT bad,” and that might be true. Editing removed a lot of the audio “cyloning,” coughing (i.e. check out the 01:20:31 mark for a doozy), wheezing, bickering and wayward topic discussion, you could clearly tell that most of us were simply not on our “A-Game” for this one. First on the guest list was Chris Sims of ComicAlliance.com and War Rocket Ajax podcast. OK, no big deal, standard podcast for us, right? Well, we picked up a surprise host right before starting the record (now 6) and then Mike chimed in on an ill placed show entrance by Gary which interrupted our guest (now 7). Sigh…this was not good. Then the fun poking began as everyone targeted in on Gary for some reason. Now Gary is a good guy, he can take a good ribbing, but when the night begins to spin out of control, well, everyone’s temper becomes a little salty. Here’s a lesson in podcasting folks, don’t irk the editor. When we were done embarrassing ourselves in front of our guest, we read a listener’s letter and listened to some voice mail from friend of the show James Kavanaugh, Jr. In the second half we talk about the two new guests for Roll Out/Roll Call 3 and transitioned into the unfortunate news that no Movie 2 merchandise was shown at UK Toy Fair. We also talk about the upcoming HissTank.com March Madness thread where you can submit what characters you want to see in modern era contrux. Last year’s bracket had some interesting names in the Sweet Sixteen that are now possibly in your collections. Worth a look for sure. Anyways, not sure how this episode will go down in the annals of Joe podcasting lore, but like our very bad pilot episode, you can stomach at least one full listen of the episode. WOJM: The “Lost” Episodes #1

About a month ago we were asked to record a special segment for the Geek Cast Radio Network’s Year in Review show. How could we resist, right? Originally we were asked to have each host list their Top 5 and Bottom 5 GI Joe moments from 2011. Well, since we REALLY like to talk and go into in-depth discussions on our topics, to have basically a Top 20 and Bottom 20 list would be a little too much. It would have turned into a 5 hour marathon and Gary would have been crushed from post production. So we pooled our picks together and came up with a group consensus Top 5 and Bottom 5. Now, we repeat some of what we talked about in Episode 35, but we touch on other topics too so we keep the content fresh. Anyways, we had fun and we hope you enjoy it. We thank the GCRN for allowing us to be involved in their program!

Episode 38: What’s on JOE Mind?

When we started podcasting, our expectations were low. We didn’t expect to be around very long and we would have never guessed that we would have an interview with anyone associated with Joe media. Well, it seemed appropriate on the episode that makes WOJM the longest running Joe-only podcast on the internet (possibly in the world or in all existence for that matter), we book our biggest interview to date. You’ve heard him in our pre-show bumpers, but now we get him for an hour, its Jason Marsden the voice of Duke on the Hub’s GI Joe Renegades cartoon. We can’t begin to tell you how cool it was to hear him in person talk about his experience with the latest Joe toon rendition! He reveals quite a bit to us, but beyond that we just had a very enjoyable talk with a very cool dude…who happened to sound like Duke. To lend us a hand on this landmark occasion for WOJM, we invited AtomicMartian.com’s Jason (yes, two Mikes last week, two Jasons this week) to be part of the interview - BUT, not before being interviewed first about his team’s very popular YouTube toy review videos. Perhaps you may remember Chuck gushing about them on a weekly basis? It was a hectic record night, but thanks to a refreshed Greg and the Jasons’, it all turned out to be one of our personal favorite episodes. A special thanks to Gary Head and all those who called in to congratulate us on this landmark episode. Oh, and Herb from Rhode Island makes a return. We put in a lot of hard work in these shows, so it means a lot to hear from you guys. So who cares if it was a slow news week?! We don’t need no stinking news (it would be nice though). We hope you have as much fun listening as we did recording - editing sucked because of Kevin Watts - just listen and you’ll find out what I meant; he set a new bleeping record.

Episode 37: What’s on JOE Mind?

Man oh man, this was “one of those” types of episodes. With Greg gone, the mice could play and they stacked on a very ambitious schedule of YOUR listener mail to review. Justin missed most of the fun too as he spent the evening with his boss - read into that however you want, we just know it involved dinner and a movie! So with the programs two steady “rocks” gone, we called upon our pinch hitting host Beach-Head Mike and friend of the program James Kavanaugh, Jr to fill in for the absent hosts. This also made Chuck #2…host that is. Little did Chuck know that every time he made a joke, he was a corney #2 {rimshot}. Anyway, also on hand from the GCRN was TFOMG1 Mike…, er, we mean SkelatorMike, wait no…JediMike…no…oh, LEADER-1 Mike. We talked to Mike about how he got started in podcasting and long with some tips for you starters out there who may be thinking about doing a podcast of your own. Of course, as co-founder of the GCRN, he also give us the 2012 outlook; of which we know What’s on JOE Mind will play a big role. In your letters we touched on several topics, such as how many figures we own, how many vehicles we own, thoughts on Retaliation, the FSS and GIJoe-Transformers comics. In the news, it is possible that Sideshow may make Gary a VERY happy collector and POSSIBLY release his favorite character - but no firm news yet. Our friend Mark Cheng of Operation Red Retrieval posted his deleted scenes and alternate ending to his fanfilm. Lastly the club sends out an update on the FSS and the fandom doesn’t react as we thought they would. The gang explores why. Up and at ‘em!! Break time is over soldiers and it is time to get back into the normal swing of things, or at least how WOJM goes. While it seems like forever and a day until JoeCon and the movie, we are just little a month out from Toy Fair where we will find out all the new Joe goodies we will see for the movie line. So much to talk about… So little time… This week the gang reconvines from its holiday break and is joined by IDW GI Joe artist Robert Atkins for a very informative and informal interview with the guy who was tasked to re-invent Cobra Commander. I mean HOW COOL IS THAT!? Robert also talks about school, his job, his personal collection and his upcoming appearance at Roll Out/Roll Call 3 in the UK. Speaking of Roll Out/Roll call 3, Gary announces he will be making an appearance - LOOK OUT SOUTHAMPTON!! In the news, our sponsor Kokomo Toys announces the first bit of Retaliation retail news with basic case assortment information - no idea who or what the figures will be, but its exciting news indeed. Thanks to the guys on Fighting118th.com, we get some more pics of the cancelled Tiger Force-looking TRU Jurassic Park AWE Striker. Figures.com picked GI Joe as the #1 military toy line of 2011 - this is not surprising to us, but we discuss and thump our chests while taking shots on how poorly the other 3.75″ lines compare. Last in the news, the early GIJCC newsletter are arriving and indications point to the FSS starting soon. Greg is skeptical. Its an entertaining time with Robert as we shake off the holiday haze for this latest episode of WOJM!

WOJM Special Edition #5: A look back at The Rise of Cobra

Mount up! Technically, they don’t exist. They answer to know one. And when all else fails, they don’t. Welcome to the NEW face of GI Joe in 2009, the Rise of Cobra. GI Joe is still the codename of a daring, high trained special mission force who purpose is to defend human freedom against those who threaten it. Sound familiar? This time you heard nothing about America AND Cobra. Why? Well the movie world has Joe as an international force, oddly, something more akin to the cult classic MegaForce and less anything to do with the comic we grew up with. And with no Cobra as the enemy, who would Joe fight to get Cobra to “rise”? That would be our favorite Scottish weapons provider Destro and his MARS organization. Well, if you were like most in the fandom at the time, your head began to hurt as Joe, was for good, yet mostly bad, changing in front of our very eyes. While some timeless characters like Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow remained mostly unchanged, favorites like Breaker are brought back from the dead and Heavy Duty was given an accent other than that of a Chicagoan. Toss in changing the race of Ripcord, which in itself was no big deal AND mixing in the weird Rex-Duke-Anna triangle and the fandom had about as much as it could handle. Joe did well for one week in the theater, but for the most part the fandom turned their back on the motion picture as a failed experiment that almost killed our hobby. In the toy world, the RoC toys sold very well, but Hasbro, for whatever reason, decided to ramp up production and flood the stores with early movie waves. Never mind that figures from the Terminator, Star Trek, and Pirates of the Caribbean movies will still warming the pegs, Hasbro went full steam ahead. These little mistakes undoubtedly effected what we saw in the Pursuit of Cobra line all the way down to the most recent 30th Anniversary wave. We figured it fitting that after a few days of the GI Joe Retaliation trailer hitting, the WOJM would gather around the mics one last time in 2011 to look back on RoC, give our thoughts on the movie, the figures, the vehicles, the licensed product and give our early comparison thoughts to the new sequel. So make the call! Sit down and hear this special Rise of Cobra Retrospective of WOJM! When we’re finished, the world will never forget!

Episode 35: What’s on JOE Mind?

April 25th, 2011 - its when we posted our first show. We had NO idea how this would go. Some of us thought it would be an epic failure and end in embarassment. Well, 36 weekly shows later, we’re still chugging along trying to be the loudest cheerleaders of the line we can. We could not have done this without YOU the fans and our many many friends and supporters, so we hope you don’t mind a little gratuitous back patting this week as we take time to thank you all for all of your help and involvement over the last year. This week the team looks back at the year that was, 2011 in the first half of the show. What were the highlights? What were the lowlights? Who or what did we lose over the last year to make the obituary? We also answer some voice mail from a famous terrorist leader with world dominaion aspirations and we get a special song from a show regular that even made Justin blush. In the second half we go over what to expect in 2012. With Toy Fair, JoeCon, the Movie and SDCC in the first half of the year ALONE, it is going to be a GREAT 2012 for the line. In the brief news of the week, an Amazon.com rumor has them selling an exclusive movie 4 pack - who’s characters confuse the team, but we know who to blame for not reporting it right. To wrap the news up, Sideshow releases the uber cool Cobra Viper. It was a good year to be a Sideshow fan! Lastly, we play for you what the listeners chose for the most Classic Chuck Moment of 2011. Episode 34: What’s on JOE Mind?

Well, the original plan was to tune it down a knotch with a leisurely and informative interview with IDW Sr. Editor John Barber. But…Justin got all crazy on Twitter and was convinced by Jon Chu to tweet the hell out of the known Joe community to get Paramount to release the first teaser Trailer for GI Joe Retaliation. Like a Christmas miracle, it seemed to work so this week was D-Day for the new trailer featuring tons of The Rock being a badass, Adrianne Palicki in a low cut red dress and ninjas…lots and lots of ninjas…oh, and John McClain, er, I mean Bruce Willis. So guess what we talked about? You guessed it…and we got to hear Chuck’s wild theories about the movie. How one can deduce an entire 2+ hour movie in 2 minutes and 30 seconds is beyond us, but Chuck does it. Luckily he is being recorded so come the end of June we can all enjoy a laugh. In the news…YES, there was other news; Wave 4 shipped, Sideshow Hawks arrived, Robert Atkins has a cool contest on JoeCustoms and an evil mastermind sent us an audio file to address something Justin said in an earlier episode. What do you do when one Chuck isn’t enough? You add another, that’s what ya do! Chuck from the very popular podcast, StarJoes joins us as a guest to double your Chuck power for the week. StarJoes Chuck gives an impressive performance. WOJM Chuck, just throws in the “rag.” From the mailbag we ready Monte’s letter concerning theigh cuts and other items to make it easier to customize. Hear the reactions from the live Tweet as man-cards were retracted then later reissued. In the news, wave 3 just got here and it looks like wave 4 is nipping at its heels. A date for COIL Con III is revealed. The club debuts some more detail on the FSS figures and cardart, while Justin and Gary give their thoughts on the behavior of the fandom towards the club. IDW crowns a new Cobra Commander - ample spoilers are given, you have been warned. Ellen Tigh is still the 13th Cylon; sorry its a 5 year old show, spoiler limitations do not apply. Waaay back in episode 17, we had this guy named Mark Cheng come on our show to tell us about this little known GI Joe fanfilm trailer that set the community abuzz. We thought it was cool and we wanted to get the word out in the community. Well, a few weeks and months later, the film is out, it has a giant twist and its a HUGE hit. You have NEVER seen GI Joe like this!! Mark joins us once again and this time he brings along actor Mack Kuhr who played the chief villian (and uber evil) Zartan. Also while recording, we got a special tweet for Mark and Mack that even had the co-host in awe…but you need to listen to find out who sent the tweet. In the news the guys hash out the GIJCC FSS one more time and give their final thoughts on the 12 figures as well as make a prediction on the final 13th - we can assure you it isn’t Ellen Tigh - yes, that was a Battlestar Galactica reference. He shares with us thw work Hasbro puts into engineering our favorite figures and further helps us determine what is a variant and what is not and what does all of this strange terminology mean like TEST SHOT, PROTOTYPE, CARDED SAMPLE, etc, etc. We hope your mind has a hunger for some Joe knowledge, because you will get more than a three meal course this time! In the news, the fandom got to see their first LIVE glimpses of the movie filming in New Orleans as ET gave us 2 minutes of bliss showing us scenes of Dwayne and Tatum exchanging some lines AND we see a vehicle looking an awful lot like a Water Moccasin sporting a COBRA logo. Speaking of New Orleans, we get the other hosts reactions and remind you, if you are thinking about going to JoeCon 2012 and have not done so already, you MUST listen to our Special Edition JoeCon FAQ episode. If you don’t, we’ll make Chuck sing, and you don’t want that, do you? Well, DO YOU?! The GIJCC is getting closer to unveiling all 12 of their subscription figures by showing us #6 and #7 over the last week; Jinx and Barrel Roll. WOJM Special Edition #4: 2012 JoeCon Site Announcement!

No, we are not done yet this week!! Its been a while since we’ve done a special edition. When the club announced the 2012 convention site this week, we figure no time like the present to assemble the team to tackle the topic. Whilst Greg and Chuck were unavailable, the “con vets” (not convicts as Gary slipped up and said) of the show, Justin and Gary took the torch and proudly ran with it. Joining the duo is 10 time convention veteran (not including CanJoeCons) Josh aka Roshan from the online community. Between the 3 of them they have nearly 30 years of JoeCon experience! All you need to know about the early stages of JoeCon are covered, including the most common questions asked on the boards. If you are on the fence about the 2012 con being your first or just looking for more information, you do not want to miss this. Also we answer an email from friend of the show John aka Pluv about how to “sell” the convention to your significant other - oh, this ought to be fun! Naturally we will be covering all the news concerning the con from when the brochures are released right up to the closing of the sales floor. There is no rest for the weary WOJM crew and you can tell, Gary was cranky and moody. For the second time in less than a week they MAN UP and gather once more to review with you the latest from the Joe community. With Greg’s softball season ended successfully, we return to our “old” recording night to pick up the news of the week. As websites go, ARealAmericanHero.com is one we have kept our eyes on. From that we invited its admin Rich on to join in the second longest podcast we ever recorded - time flies when you are having fun. From the mailbag we get a letter from SwamiJay (aka Jeff) about our thoughts on how possibly Sigma 6 figures could be translated to the PoC line. In the news, the fellas sort out the answers from the latest round of the Hasbro Q&A and pick out the good, and not-so-good questions of the bunch to review. From the GIJCC, we go two more figure unveils during the week to bring the number of known subscription figures to 6. How did Grunt fare versus the Iron Klaw? What is next for the club and FSS? Find out! On the movie front, The Rock shows us more pictures but not much else as the movie nears the end of primary filming. To Greg’s chagrin, we started an impromptu discussion on Joe and Kre-O - of which moody Gary said it would fail miserably. The conversation was great, the banter sharp and the editing was sharp - gosh we love patting ourselves on the back (sometimes…only when we earn it).

First we have Ace Allgood from the Trenches 12″ forum join us again to talk about the GIJCC’s 12″ incentive figure [echo]THE MAN OF EVIL[/echo] and the new 30th Anniversary 12″ Joes we are seeing at retail. He gives us his review plus everyone gives Gary grief for not opening his 12″ Paratrooper. Speaking of getting grief, the team dishes it out on Chuck, who, for some odd principal reasoning, won’t join the GIJCC - shame on you Chuck! From the mailbag we talk about the over abundance of Skystrikers that seem to be choking the shelves. Is this a good sign? Bad sign? Or just too early to tell? In the news we break the news to the community about a BIG change in the GIJCC subscription program, an addition to the availability of Footloose and send out the word that we should be hearing “any day” about the site of the 2012 con. Also, Sideshow and Shout!Factory have some new offerings and we begin to get word of the first confirmed guests of the Roll Out/Roll Call 3 UK Transformer - Joe - Action Force Convention. In the news we go over Cobra Commander added to the cast as a character in GI Joe 2. Also uncovered and discussed is some really cool Rise of Cobra art work from Mike Thompson showing us what we could have seen on some canceled products. Lastly, contest winners are announced, listener concerns about promos addressed and an early release for Episode 24 is made public. All this and Justin single handedly jinxed the Red Sox on their playoff run (Ack…Playoffs?!) , plus a ton of laughs (and some beeps) in this episode of WOJM!

This week we are joined by HissTank.com honcho Fran (aka Destro) to talk to him about the New Jersey Collectors’ Convention and learn a little history on how the HissTank community got its start. Its an interesting interview - you should listen! Due to a slow news week, the team discussed many points of view while trying to answer Tim from KC’s question about Hasbro distribution. Speaking of distribution, apparently it is working in some areas as Greg, Justin and Gary review each one of the new Renegades figures with the general consensus being that these are AWESOME! Gary encourages a thread on HissTank concerning wanting a Sideshow Navy SEAL Torpedo figure - how sweet would that figure be!? Oh, and the Hits for Tots campaign rolls on at full speed. We’ll be making some less fortunate children and the US Marine Corps very happy this holiday season!

Believe it or not, we even talk about My Little Pony. Find out which Joes we like that got little or no love from the comic and cartoon, get our opinions of the line for the next 5 year and hear our guesses concerning who we would like to see in the GIJCC’s subscription program. In hour 2 we get down to the latest news of GI Joe 2: Bruce Willis will be Joe Colton, Jonathan Pryce returns as the President of the United States and we find out that Extensive Enterprises will be part of the movie! Add to that a lackluster showing of our favorite toy at comic con and the series finale of Renegades made for a very very moody fanbase. The WOJM team tackles these issues and more in their own light hearted way - or tried to anyway. This week we are joined by modern era “documentarian” Gary Head as we interview this unique member of the community. He helps them review the SDCC weekend fallout and rewards a lucky listener in our latest contest - Joe Haikus! In our show segment, the team reviews a handful of answers to your SKO questions in preparation for next week’s exclusive interview! Plus we try to call Hasbro Toy Shop Customer Service. GI Joe in the mass media topped the news of the week with the announcement of Ray Stevenson being cast as Firefly in GI Joe 2. Renegades winds down toward cancellation, er…sorry Hasbro, we meant to type HIATUS. The crew comments on both. In the show segment, we are joined by Jay Hunger of the COIL Club to talk about the second annual COIL Con and GI Joe Swap Meet in Kokomo, Indiana. Jay will tell us a little about the day and the COIL Commando figure exclusive to the event. Back by popular demand the fellas return to the IDW comic universe for discussion and you may be surprised which Joe title line they like the best (or not). Finally we wrap it up by drawing the name of the winner of our 2011 30th Anniversary Pre-Prod Skystriker contest. All this including Gary corrects himself TWICE, Chuck mutes his mic, Greg dodges proposing to his girlfriend and we find out that Justin simply isn’t as big of a Red Sox fan as he says he is. It’s the ALL-STAR game edition of WOJM! (Perhaps next week we will talk a little Formula 1, Cricket and Soccer for our foreign listeners?)

WOJM Special Edition #2: A look back at The Pursuit of Cobra

From 2010 to mid 2011, the GI Joe Pursuit of Cobra line from Hasbro tried its best to carry the flag of the hobby after marginal movie and retail product sales. Understandably, retailers were gun shy to reload on the American Hero because in their eyes, the movie line was simply not selling. With a little luck, persistence and possible divine intervention from a dedicated brand team, the line we now know as PoC made its way to retail, but in a form changed from the initial vision shared with us in Kansas City 2009. Gone were the movie cards, movie actor likenesses and the spring loaded weapons. Enter new and familiar characters and vehicles with slick retail packaging and increased tooling and detail. PoC became an award winning brand based upon the Hasbro GI Joe Brand Team’s attention to detail and willingness to add that little extra to make the Pursuit of Cobra stand out against tough competition on the 3.75″ retail landscape. Still, we were lucky to get much of that as some items didn’t make it to traditional retail channels or got cancelled all together. At the end of the day, the tale of the tape shows this: 34 single carded figures, 12 vehicles and many satisfied fans. In this special edition of WOJM, the team reviews the line and goes over the highs and the lows of a series that seemed to be unfairly placed on Hasbro Life Support from day 1. If PoC is a barometer, can we expect more of the same with the 30th Anniversary and GI Joe 2 lines bring us? While Chuck blames Justin for last weeks freudian slip, the team regains composure to tackle a hefty agenda. First is MAIL CALL where we dive into the mail bag and read off some listener mail, including that from the UK - who we assure him, he’s not alone in his country. On to the news, we talk about the upcoming Waves 1 and 2 of the 30th Annie line, spend some time talking about The Rock, Ninjas and the casting of Lady Jaye (or as Gary said, “eye candy”) and wrap it up with a considerable discussion about the latest subscription news from the GI Joe Collectors’ Club. This episode was so full of info, instead of super-sizing it for you, we recorded off a Special Edition discussion about the Life and Deth (typo on purpose) of the Pursuit of Cobra which we will post later in the week. The gang is back together! Chuck goes over his clandestine rescue of Greg in Canada which leads to an unfortunate slip of the tongue by Chuck. Getting down to business Greg finally gives his Canadian Joe Con report. We dip into the mailbag to read some listener mail from Japan and once again discuss the OCS ARAH Project - is O-Ring evolution a bad thing? In the news, Greg takes us through the details of the 2nd Annual COIL Con and Sideshow Snake Eyes Statue. The team reacts to the good news from the GIJCC concerning the cancelled mail-away Rise of Cobra Cobra Commander figure w/ HISS Drone being made available to members. We review the latest episode of Renegades. Why is this show getting cancelled (er…we mean put on ‘hiatus’) when it is FINALLY getting good - thanks HASBRO! Rounding out the news we discuss the latest GI Joe 2 castings as Justin kindly reminds us that the Blind Master was originally black, so the casing of RZA is very appropriate. In our first debate segment called “Watch Yer Flank!”, we react to the latest Seibertron Twincast report that eventually JoeCon and BotCon will be one. Gary reacts harshly as you would expect. Is it a good idea or bad idea? Lastly, we give out the details on how YOU can win a PRE-PRODUCTION 30th Anniversary Skystriker. We are half way home in the 2011 convention season. SDCC is up next and there is no shortage of news. The team, minus an allegedly incarcerated Greg, recaps the Canadian Joe Con one more time. Was Hasbro taunting US fans with the GI Joe Cycle Armour coming out in Canada or will we see it here? Next we go over the sometimes ambiguous but always appreciated tweets from GI Joe 2 director Jon Chu and writer Rhett Reese. Next we dive into the shallow waters of the latest Hasbro Q&A and learn more about why the Data Viper got the axe and how the 30th Anniversary Skystriker went from fanboy dream to an actual upcoming product on the shelves in August. Supporting continued community fan projects, Justin and Gary talk up the new Old School Creations membership drive and subscription service of O-Ring figures! On to the small screen, Renegades is winding down, but the action is ratcheting up as we look at Episode 22. Chuck tries his hand at amateur comedy and shows why he now on Homeland Security’s watchlist and not showing up at the Improv. We talk about the upcoming CJC; Gary tells us how to LEGALLY get into Canada; we discuss the 6″ protos from Goggles and Notpicard.
