Regular Edition, Chuck, Mike, Gary, Jay, JoeCon, Retaliation, Renegades, FSS, Basic Assortment Figures, Kre-O, Andrew Kishino
|
This is a bit of minor milestone episode. It is our 100th combined episode we have recorded, produced and published! While we still have a long way to go for our 100th regular episode, these milestones don't come often and there is no guarantee we will be around for Episode 100 so we give thanks and mark the occasion nevertheless. This episode we are joined by Ed Lydon, the handchosen (by Chuck) winner of the FOC logo contest. Standing in for Justin, who was under the weather, is CardedHeroes.com Jay Hunger. Included in this episode is a very cool interview we had with Andrew Kishino, the Renegades voice of Storm Shadow. Learn how he had to act against a character who didn't speak and hear Justin bust his chops for being a Giants fan. Ryan Costello, aka Scramble from JoeCanuck and the Canadian JoeCon shares with us a new segment he's doing for us called Collectors Connection. Its interesting! You don't want to miss it. In the second half, we read your emails about your favorite WOJM memories from our previous 100 combined episodes. Oddly, most have to do with our Kevin Michael Richardson interview or Chuck melting down. Both EXCELLENT choices in our opinion. In the news, all 15 figures of the 2013 JoeCon set are revealed. You will get your Justin Bell-free thoughts. We are also excited to report that PRODUCT of all types ARE ON THE SHELVES! Retaliation Wave 2 singles, Retaliation Wave 2 3-packs, Micro Force, Kre-o's and the running changes of the Basic Assortment figures (aka Dollar General Joes). Also in the news is a LOT of movie news...well, more movie news than we are normally used to since May. So all in all, it is a jam packed show. Its awesome, and you know its awesome because we talk about Suzanne Pleshette...I mean, when was the last time ANYONE mentioned anything about Suzanne Pleshette - on a GI Joe podcast no less. Enjoy #100 in a style only we do things!

Rough day, eh? Kinda ironic this is all happening, AGAIN, and it's on Groundhog Day Eve. I feel like we've all been here before. Well, maybe we can take some of the ease off with this Lost Episode. It has been a while since we've posted a lost episode, so let us fill you in on what they are. From time to time we are asked to record a segment for another show. Since we put the same amount of effort into a 10 minute show as we would a 90 minute show, we toss the file into the media archives to use when a rainy day occurs. Well, this is one of those types of days. So for those of you who braved the F5 world today, we present to you, from the archives, our submission to the GeekCast Radio Network's 2012 Year In Review episode. Please visit our friends at GeekCastRadio.com, and say hi to TFG.I.Mike for us! He's GI Joe's #1 fan! Again, this was published with special permission from the GCRN. Thanks Steve!

WAIT! Listen to this first before registering for JoeCon. Our JoeCon vet hosts (Chuck has still yet to leave his house), Mike, Justin and Gary offer up their combined 23 years of experience to help you plan your trip. Never been to Indianapolis? Thinking about a Pre-Con tour? What happens package pickup night? When can I get the convention exclusives? And the biggest question of all, HOW MUCH IS ALL OF THIS? If you have a question or concern, listen to this first and we probably cover it for you. If you didn't hear an answer to your question, email the program, whatsonjoemind@gmail.com and the team will run down an answer for you. Don't do anything JoeCon related until you hear this first! See you in Indy - site of the most recent Patriots Super Bowl loss!!

At just over 3 hours, this epic clocks in as our second longest episode ever. It's hard to believe we've never done a 3 hour podcast before, but you asked for it, therefore, you got it. MOAR WOJM! Think of it as a 3 course meal. Your appetizer is a marathon interview with Distinguished Author, Mark Bellomo. We cover things from the short comings of the hobby today and even dive into a little Monster High - not that we went in depth on that one, but is was brought up to prove a point. From Toys to Education, we cover it all with Mark. Before the main course, we cleanse your pallet with a trip into the mail bag and a review of the Vintage, 30th Pre-Prod and 30th Retail versions of the Skystriker from our man Shogi. In your main course, we deliver you hearty portions of community news covering FSS Shipment #1, the Shooter Kickstarter Project, Hot Toys, Retaliation and a roundtable discussion concerning the GIJCC Newsletter. If you are not full yet, Chuck awards the winner in the FOC logo contest and we are joined by WOJM FFL Champion Dan Uthman all episode long as he hangs out with us as a Special Guest. There is a little something here for everyone. So, for the next 3 hours (or next 3 lunch hours) enjoy as the news drought begins to end and the run to Retaliation and Indianapolis begins!
For those who aren't into the Fantasy Football, our big Fantasy League wrap up with our Champion Dan runs from 02:36:30 to 02:49:23. Yes, its a lengthy segment, but Dan has certainly earned his time in the sun to speak his mind, so we let him...and our witty banter rip with this last football segment of the 2012-2013 football season. Does it mean we're done talking Football....NO! We still need to pester Justin about his Patriots choking in big games, AND we have March Madness right around the corner. We'll still talk sports, but we will be doing a little less of it for the upcoming future. Besides, there is Toy Fair, Retaliation, JoeCon, the FSS and new toys coming out, so we will have PLENTY to talk about! We can't wait!!

It's been a while since we've done a retrospective. With this lull in the news, the four guys get together to look back at the 25th Anniversary line. What figures did we consider the best? What vehicles did we feel were worth the money? What did we think were the stinkers? It's a fun and quick whirlwind jont through the era that brought Joe back to the masses. Got an hour? Have a listen! Be sure to tell us your winners and losers. Let the debate(s) begin!

It is an extended episode of WOJM as we review the year that was 2012 and preview the upcoming 12 months with high hopes of a big year. However, before we get to that we have a very special holiday treat to share with you, an interview with the Sunbow voice of Flint, Bill Ratner. Jumping into the news, the FSS has launched, The GIJCC annouces a second run of JoeCon 2012 sets, USA Today looks at IDW's new Special Missions title, JoeCon will be in Indy, Amazon lowers 4-packs to crazy levels, Chuck thinks wrestling rumors concerning Retaliation is legit, and Hot Toys gets a Retaliation license! Whew...so much for slow news, eh?
For the year in review, we remember the first of the Retaliation toys to hit, the uncovering of the "Dollar General" Joes, Retaliation gets delayed, and WOJM experiences some major growth.
In the 2013 preview, we talk about our excitement for the film (still) and whether or not we will see it in 3D. Further we bat around the possibilities of the 2013 JoeCon set, IDW's "relaunch" of the main comic and briefly talk about Kre-O's
Even though we are posting this ON Christmas Day, we go over a Holiday Buying guide in the event you need ONE MORE Joe gift to buy for that decerning fellow collector of yours.
Lastly, we talk about those we lost in 2012, crown the Best Chuck Moment of 2012, get the lowdown from the Fantasy Football Desk and we wrap it with our regular "What we got in..." and "Shout Outs" segment.
We hope you enjoy the show! Thanks for helping us make 2012 the best year for WOJM yet! See you in 2013!
Listener Note: The WOJM FFL wrap up runs from 02:09:30 to 02:16:52

Call him what you want... A snob, an elitist, selfish, whatever, but Gary REALLY likes his get aways. Imagine his surprise, after years of discouraging the club from placing the Con in his hometown (an event that would make any other Hoosier collector REALLY happy), that his efforts were in vain. Yes folks, JoeCon hits the lower midwest in the first time since...well, EVER. As much as Gary didn't want the con in Indianapolis, he is proud of his state and city. Along with Mike, who is also a former resident of the Indianapolis metro area, they run down what to see, do and eat around the 2013 convention site, the brand spanking new JW Marriott! We also answer some commonly asked questions by convention n00bs and even do a little blind speculation of the figures which we think might be in the set. So, even if Gary doesn't welcome you to Indianapolis, we still invite you to have a listen. 2013 has the potential to be something special!

Join Chuck, Justin, Mike, and Gary, along with the RETURN OF GREG as we look back at our pilot episode. Was what was important then, still important now? Have our opinions changed? How has the news and episode held up under the stress of time? Its a fun and unique look into our past, done in a way only the WOJM guys could do it. It's a laid back, no pressure, special edition, so sit back, relax and enjoy a trip back to April 2011.

Feels like the very first time, eh? Yes, this is a remixed and remastered version of our original pilot episode published WAY back in April of 2011. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't seem that long ago, but when you dive into its topic matter, it seems almost like another time and another place. What was the big topic of the day? SKYSTRIKERS...yeah, that's right, Hasbro just announced the price point for the 30th Anniversary re-release of our favorite Jet. What else was hot in the news at the time? How about Hasbro taking a big financial hit in its quarterly reports? Feeling a loss at the Concept Case at JoeCon '12? Well, don't forget about the concept presentation from JoeCon '11. Excited for Retaliation figures now? How about Pursuit of Cobra wave 6 then? Oh yeah, and how about 3 absolute strangers getting together to record the first, in what turned out to be, longest running Joe podcast to date. Why is this coming out now? You'll find out in Special Edition #20...but you need to listen to this first. It's isn't that much better than the original, but its shorter and hopefully the pain will be less too. So kick that flux capacitor into action and let's travel back in time to our first ever show!

It's election night in America...or it was when we recorded this episode in a time capsule. Boy, a lot has sure happened since we've last hear from the Terrific Treo and Chuck. Half the football season is over, we have a new baseball champion, basketball has started, hockey has...well, no one really seems to notice hockey missing, and we've had a Superstorm roll through the east coast. Because of this mega storm, we had quite ths diffcult task of keeping the show running and the audio is clean. We are pretty sure Arune got in trouble with the new wife because it sounded like he had KP Duty assigned to him in the second half of the show. *Sigh*...yeah, it was one of those shows, but its two plus hours for those of you who have been missing your WOJM "fix." This episode we have not one but two interviews of notice. First we are joined by Fred Van Lente, the new writer for IDW's GI Joe title. After hearing him, you'll trust along with us that the franchise is in very capable hands. Following the interview with Fred, we went back in time to listen to a pre-recorded interview that we did with RJ from CobraStickers.com. We were joined by Kevin Watts on that interview, so who knows what new colorful lexicons he will add to our show FAQ. I do believe this time it includes a bag a phallus-es. Yeeeah, it was one of those interviews, but don't miss it never the less!! After the break we go into the mailbag to check on Justin's status of collecting votes for the Hasbro Concept Case we saw at JoeCon. From another letter, we get the low down on life in NYC with Chuck and Arune post SUPERSTORM. We also have a letter ask us our thoughts about a live-action Joe television show. In the news, the awaited for Kre-o debate is held. It might surprise you our thoughts on this new line that has a lot of the fandom excited. We rehash the new IDW teams and briefly mention the GI Joe Complete Collection #1 from friend of the program Mark Bellomo is now on Amazon. In movie news, there is a "new" trailer. The PR machine is getting in gear. Rounding out the news, the fandom came out strong and supported Marauder John's Kickstarter campaign (as heard in Episode 68). Bravo everyone!
The WOJM FFL bit runs from 02:03:00 to 02:10:15 - yeah, its more time than previous episodes, but we had more ground to cover!
NEXT, it's CONTEST TIME!! Thanks to Mike and Kevin, we now have a name for all those who are Friends of Chuck (aka FOC'ers). We now need a logo. So if you have artistic skills, create a logo for The Friends of Chuck. Chuck (aka The Head FOC'er) will pick the winner. Please send submissions as a JPG to whatsonjoemind@gmail.com. Third place will get a piece of Robert Atkins artwork; Second place will get a Renegades figure prize pack; FIRST PLACE will get a prize pack AND will appear with us as a guest host of WOJM in a future episode! Yes, that's right, you can call Chuck a FOC'er, right to his face!!
Lastly, to all those who have been effected by the hurricane, we send our best thoughts and wishes out to you. We hope life gets back to normal for you as soon as possible. To everyone else, we hope you enjoy this long awaited for, time capsule episode 69 of WOJM!
SPOILER ALERT: Obama wins...just sayin'...

WE FINALLY GOT HIM! That's right, we captured ourselves a real marauder, a gun runner so to speak. That's right, after 90 plus combined episodes, WOJM finally gets to sit down and talk with the famous Marauder John of Marauder, Inc. We dive deep into his mysterious past to hear about how he started gun running and why. We also learn about the future of Marauder, Inc. with his ongoing Kickstarter Project and Campaign. We are excited to bring this interview to you, it has been a year in the making! In the second half of the program, we are joined by super substitute host AND Noted Author, James Kavanaugh. We also have Dave Draiper from Toy World Order join the ranks to add commentary to our mailbag and news. For the first time in a while, we had a packed news schedule. The GIJCC released their October newsletter. The fellas at Roll Out Roll Call unveil one of their show customs for 2013. Robert Atkins shows off some more awesome Joe artwork on his blog. Justin reviews some of the Retaliation W2 3 pack figures. Hasbro says they will be at NYCC in some capacity. Plenty of stuff to keep this episode timely...somewhat.
For you non sporting members of the fandom, yes we do talk about sports again, but if you wish to skip it, you can fast forward from the 1:30:38 mark to 1:35:38 mark.
LASTLY...
Don't forget, help the man who helps us. Open your wallets and piggy banks most generously and give to the Marauder GR Kickstarter Project and Campaign. It doesn't matter how much you give - $1, $2, $5, $25, $50, $100, $200, or more...just as long as you GIVE. The project is worthy and the rewards alone are WORTH your consideration. Help shape the future of our hobby and the future of gun running, contribute to the project and campaign TODAY. Oh and don't forget, mention the podcast to him when buying your next purchase from him and receive a free item!! Let MJ know you heard him on WOJM!! Thanks!!

Author Jim Sorenson and convention exclusive Project Manager extraordinare Kevin Watts join us for this jam packed episode of WOJM. First we talk with Jim about his GI Joe: Field Manual Volume 1 and get his thoughts on Volume 2, both of which you can buy AND pre-order respectively on Amazon.com. Grab a copy today. In the second half, we talk to Kevin about his awesome custom Metal Head NJCC exclusive. In the news we talk some Gun Running, give our thoughts on episode 1 of the fanfilm Initiate, go over the latest from the GIJCC newsletter, movie hype restarts with reports of Storm Shadow reshoots, and lastly, Joe beats Transformers and other toy brands in a national vote held by the Indianapolis Children's Museum. To wrap up the show, we announce a new sponsor for the Mailbag and read a comment directed at Justin .
The WOJM FFL Recap portion runs approximately from the 1:54:13 mark to the 1:59:13 mark. If you don't want to hear about the fantasy football league or Gary get made fun of for starting off 0-2 and dropping to 18th (out of 18), you may want to fast forward to the end.
So, there ya have it! See you all back here next time, same B.A.T. time, same B.A.T. channel!

Mike and Gary are joined by the RETURN of former host Greg for this 40 minute wrap up of the show. We are joined in progress by Kokomo Toys co-owner (because if we said OWNER, Amber would kill us!) Todd Jordan, GI Joe Initiate Fanfilm Director Fred Doss, IDW Artist Robert Atkins and CardedHeroes.com admin Jay Hunger. Its a whirlwind review of a fast paced day at COIL Con III at Kokomo Toys in Kokomo, Indiana. Join us, will you?

Its a full disclosure episode. What has the gang been up to since the last episode? We fill you in. Joining us in the first half for an interview...well, we recorded it a little bit ago is Andrew and Trina. Both have worked with Hasbro on the GI Joe brand in one form or another over the last 5 or so years. Hear what it is like behind the scenes at Hasbro and learn there is more to getting a figure getting to market then pouring plastic into a mold. In the news, the GIJCC store is OPEN FOR BUSINESS, INCLUDING the launching of the FSS! Sgt. Slaughter spills the beans of a rumor about his character being involved in the early drafts of Retaliation. Sideshow has a Storm Shadow statue. A character is born for Star Wars Clone Wars based off of Snake Eyes. After the news we are joined by Jon Cremeans from the COIL Club to talk about the 3rd Annual COIL Con at Kokomo Toys in Kokomo, Indiana. Before wrapping it up, we spend a bit of time talking about the WOJM Fantasy Football season. We're back on track! Sit back and enjoy!

For the second year in a row, WOJM goes north to cover the Canadian Joe Con. Join WOJM co-host Gary, Noted Author James Kavanaugh, Pluv John from JoeCustoms.com, and the voice of the CJC Ryan aka Scramble as the report directly from the floor of the 2012 Canadian JoeCon. Ryan reviews the set with Gary and gives insider info on their creation and background. After the review, we go forward in time as WOJM got a chance to drop a recorder in front of the Canadian JoeCon staff to get the lowdown on the 2012 event and the future of the convention. Before wrapping up, we go back to the sales floor with our traveling co-hosts to find out what they got and any last minute shout outs before heading back home. If you liked what you heard, we encourage you to attend next year. We promise it won't be a time you forget!
