WOJM Episode 106: Loveland, Reviewed

ZOMG!  It's a REAL episode!!  Yes, the gang brings you almost FIVE hours of Joe Related Talk...and other subjects...and pointless tangents.  Justin was having "family time" so joining us for substitution host duty is Chris McLeod of The Full Force.  Since this is our first show since JoeCon (yes, we know it has been that long, but we all have real lives we must live folks), we spend a SIGNIFICANT amount of time in the news doing a day-by-day review of all that went down in Loveland.  We also catch up on other topics in the news...all which is old news now, but you can hear what we have to say instead of reading it on a forum or in social media.  We also talk to IDW GI Joe artist extraordinaire, Tom Feister as we check in to what projects he has cooking for the rest of the year.  All that plus the Joes of 2006 and Inappropriate Cosplay Emails to Joe Colton.  We know you will love this new segment!  We'll fill you in with our lives in the real world on our next episode, but for now, enjoy this MEGA show...this should last you a couple of days on your commutes...unless you have a long commute and in that case we hope it makes your trip go by that much more rapidly.  Thanks for thinking of us!  We appreciate your loyalty!!   

WOJM Episode 105: Quick & Dirty 2016

It is our yearly "live" night-before-we-travel-to-JoeCon-episode!  Joining us for a quick interview is Jason Bienvenu to talk about his Animal Warriors of The Kingdom Kickstarter campaign.  He's a Joe fan and wants to share his action figure passion with the world.  After we part with Jason, we talk about the Joes of 2005, Joe tries to set up Mike with her friend Maggie, we go over the complete JoeCon schedule with friend Jim Beutel (from Animal Planet's "When Animals Bang"...), Noted Author James Kavanaugh drops a wrestling-style promo on Joe announcing his intentions to take back the JoeCon cosplay title before retiring the belt for life and we give our commentary on what we expect at the Hasbro and Club roundtables.

 

Be sure to join us THIS Sunday from 1:00p to 1:50p for our Live JoeCon panel.  We will turn out the lights on the convention.  Will Mike channel his inner Don Meredith and sing "Turn out the Lights"?

WOJM Episode 103: Christmas In May

It's the Christmas in...May edition! Yes, yes, this is another one of those episodes we recorded months ago and are just now getting around to finish editing and posting it.  In this episode, we have a hearty discussion about the Joes from 2003.  In the news we spend a lot of time talking with Justin about working with Hasbro for the Fan's Choice Kindle World's Character voting process.  Justin also asks Joe about her pie.  Yes, it is the truth.  It's a little more than 90 minutes of fun, so have fun listening!

WOJM Episode 102: Joe Colton Debuts

WOJM Episode 100: COBRA Invades

ZOMG!  It's here...finally.  We recorded this well before JoeCon, but it is a MONSTER episode.  We figured we should put out something worthy of 100, so here is our biggest show ever!  It's all about you the listeners and us thumping our chest a little bit.  Afterall, 100 shows is no small feat.  It takes a lot of work and time, so we figured we would enjoy ourselves on this one, share some memories and look back at what make the previous 99 so special.  Along the way we are joined by Bill Murphy from Fresh Monkey Fiction and Craig from Zica Toys to talk to us about their Captain Action and Eagle Force revival campaigns who talk to us about their upcoming Kickstarter slated for later this summer.  They share with us a big announcement that you will want to hear!  We are also joined by Cobra Commander...yes, the genuine article joins us to read your letters in the mailbag.  It's all the pre-JoeCon news, your calls and our memories.  Thanks for listening and being part of this awesome ride!  We hope you enjoy this epic #100.

WOJM Episode 101: Quick & Dirty 2015

WOJM Episode 99: We Love You, Gary Head

As a staff, we had been planning Episode 99 for a while.  We already recorded a very interesting interview with former Lanard and Mattel Designer, and huge Joe fan, Hawk Sanders that we knew everyone would love.  It seemed like every time we needed the co-hosts to get together on this, something was always preventing the recording from happening.  Whether it was Gary or Justin missing because of work, or it was Mike taking a longer than needed nap, the stars never did quite align when we wanted them to.  We recorded the bulk of this show on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2015.  Justin could not join because of work and a lousy Super Bowl victory hangover.  So we went to the WOJM sub pool to find someone who could step in.  We could think of no other than JoeDeclassified's Gary "Goggles" Head to fill the role.  Gary was more than accepting to join, even crafting time away from his family on Tuesday night to record with us into the wee hours of Wednesday morning.  It is a GREAT episode.  We had good news, we talked about the convention set, we had good letters which sparked great discussion and Gary filled us in with what we would see at the Declass booth in Springfield.  We ended this episode with great laughs and hearty good byes knowing that we'd be seeing each other and talking to each other soon.  Sadly, on the afternoon of February 7th, we lost Gary to what has been described as a heart condition.  Needless to say, as we all considered Gary, not only a friend of the program, but as personal friends too, we were shocked.  Words are tough to come by to describe our sadness and remorse.  This episode is dedicated to Gary's memory.  His loss cannot be measured.  He was one-of-a-kind.  He will be missed.  Thank you Gary for ALL you did for the GI Joe Community and WOJM.

WOJM Episode 98

Just in time for the holiday break, we give you #98!  In this episode Gary and Noted Author James give you an on-the-spot report at Iowa's Assembly Required show.  We also sit down with WOJM SuperGuest Bill Ratner and talk to him about his latest book and other projects he is working on.  In the news "One Tank" Mike reports on what happened at Roll Out Roll Call in Southampton UK.  We also discuss the unfortunate news of a former guest and community contributor passing.  In the mailbag we got two very good letters, one razzing Chuck (YAY!) and the other sparking a lively debate on the wildly speculated (yet no actual facts thereof) a 6" Joe line.  Lastly, as JoeCon nears, WOJM and veteran newsman Ted Baxter get you ready for Springfield by giving you facts about the town in an all new segment we hope you like.  Hope you all enjoy!  Happy Holidays from all of us!  Stay safe!

WOJM Episode 97

Not exactly a timely episode, but hey, not a lot is going on.  No worries, #98 is right around the corner.  You may be wishing for it after you hear Chuck ramble in the opening segment.  We basically catch up on some old news, discuss COIL Con V and have a small roundtable on the Club wanting to experiment with Shattered Glass and more TF/Joe Crossovers...which make Gary very grumpy.  Enjoy the funk!

WOJM Episode 96

This episode we talk some more Kickstarter with Carson from 3DJoes.com and his new ongoing poster campaign.  Get the details here.  Later on we talk with Chris from the COIL Club about the upcoming COIL Con V show in Indianapolis on Sept 13th.  In the news we talk 50th Anniversary, SDCC AND finally details about the upcoming WOJM Fantasy Football season.  It's a short but packed show.  Enjoy!

It was an epic record night as we watched the start of the monumental final 24 hours of the Boss Fight Studio Kickstarter campaign.  We also include in this program an interview with GI Joe voice talent, Michael Dobson and get his impressions of JoeCon.  Speaking of JoeCon, we are also joined by JoeCon regular Kirk Bozigian as shares some memories of working with the late Don Levine, also known as the father of GI Joe.  Lastly, after regular news and mailbag segments, we are surprised by the Boss Fight crew and we get their opinions of what the last 39 days have been like and what is next for Vitruvian HACKS.  We hope you enjoy this one!  Even Chuck was on his A-game...yeah, we know, its hard to believe!! 

Episode 94: What’s on JOE Mind?

Bill Ratner is BACK!  Yes, the man you know as Flint has BLOWN up lately.  You can hear his voice on commercials from cars to cookies.  Despite being a most awesome guest, he holds GI Joe near and dear to his heart.  You can catch him next at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, June 18-21 and 25-28 performing LIVE and ON STAGE: The True Life Adventures of Barbie and GI Joe.  What has Flint gotten himself into THIS time?  Also...Arune Singh is BACK!  That's right, our good buddy with Marvel Television stops in to talk about how cool (or not cool if you are Gary) a Joe/Transformers crossover would be.  Prompted by the new IDW title, Arune thought the time was right to put it up for debate.  You might be surprised how the gang reacts.  In addition, all the latest about the Boss Fight Kickstarter, mailbag and all the good stuff we got in since JoeCon.  We're back on track!  Enjoy!

Episode 92: What’s on JOE Mind?

Yes!  It was on its deathbed, but it got resurrected.  Thanks to some long hours of editing we managed to piece together.  The background on this show: well, we recorded this a few weeks before JoeCon.  During the recording, the raw files on the primary recording PC basically corrupted.  However, as ANY good podcast should be doing, a backup recording was being made.  All hail Chuck for saving the day.  Unfortunately, the show is now very dated.  We had on Kirk Bozigian to tease us about his JoeCon panel and a return visit by Chris Sims, who brought along Chad Bowers to talk about their football themed super hero comic, "Down, Set, Fight".  In a further bout of bad fortune, this interview was supposed to air WAY back in Feburary to coincide with the launch of their book.  FAIL!  We're not pros, but we sure did have a fun time talking about Football, Marvel's NFL Super Pro, MegaForce, Smokey and the Bandit and...GI Joe.  Outside of the interviews we were joined by Boss Fight Studio's own, the esteemed Andrew Franks.  We've missed the fans, and hopefully you missed this too - enough to listen to an old, nearly lost episode. 

Episode 93: What's on JOE Mind?

Why episode 93?!  Well, because episode 92 is not ready yet.  However, this one is ready and why make anyone wait?  It's our "LIVE" show before JoeCon.  Once again we are joined by the Vice President of The Crappy Figure Brigade, Don Anderson.  We finally let Chuck talk a little wrestling, but really this episode is about one thing, JoeCon.  The guys will preview the convention schedule and will give you an up-to-the-minute AccuWeather forecast for Dallas. It's raw and unfiltered and contains 50% more Chuck - so play this out of earshot of kids.

Curious about the 12" Joe premium figures from Hot Toys?  The fellas talk to the experts from The Hottoycast to get the lowdown.  If you have ever thought about buying a Hot Toys Joe and are still not sure about this type of investment in the hobby, have a listen, we might just sway you off the fence.  In the news the gang discusses the early stages of GI Joe 3, disappointing retailer news concerning Joe product for 2014 (we told you so), they review the latest from the GIJCC and FSS2 and they have some special announcements of some shows that they will be appearing at during this upcoming convention season.  To top it off, Chuck is made fun of a lot and Justin is crowned the 2013 WOJM Fantasy Football League Champion.  The road to episode 100 and Joe Con begins now!  Join us!

Episode 88: What’s on JOE Mind?

It is a 4 hour holiday and end of year epic.  The first half of this behemoth features a 2 HOUR interview with one of our favorite toy industry intellectuals, Mark Bellomo.  This interview, turned high brow toy discussion covers topics ranging from working with Larry Hama to a full blown discussion on what Hasbro can do next to re-ignite our favorite line.  Make sure to have plenty of fluids and get up and stretch to keep the blood flowing because this is our longest interview yet.  The news this episode is all about the GIJCC.  We got 2 shipments of the FSS.  We now know the 3.75" and 12" incentive figures AND the HAVOK Mk II (Huh?!).  Also head on over to the NEW GIJCC forums and vote in the "official"-ish Billy Kessler figure poll.  Following the news it is all about looking back at 2013 and looking forward to a dim 2014 - the best we can.  The look back is highlighted by our best moment of the year, our interview with Jon M. Chu.  Re-live the magical moment with us, will ya?  Sorry, there is no epic Chuck Melt Down HA-HA moment of 2014, but he almost causes us to meltdown when he lets an appearance of a certain annoying show character grab the mic.  You will want to miss that segment, but everything else is worth your 4 hours.  We're not forgetting this one Irizarry!!
